Will The Establishment of a State Lottery in North Carolina, End Video Poker?

It has been felt that the start of a state lottery in North Carolina will not have an adverse affect on the video poker games there. Although many  of those who want to see video poker banned, will used the lottery as a means of limiting the use of video games. The N.C. Lottery Commission does not feel that it has the authority to put conditions of retailers of lottery tickets. As of now, retailers applying to sell lottery tickets need not take away video poker machines from their premises. Things may change if the General Assembly took up the issue. State sen. Albertson has earlier tried to outlaw video poker in the state. He may consider a ban in this regard, at lottery retail outlets to put stops on video poker. Kinston.com reports:

“Anything we could do to curtail it or diminish it, certainly we could do that,” Albertson said. “I’d certainly be happy with that, but I’d be happier to see it banned from the state.”
