Video Poker may be Taken Over by Lottery, Says Gov.

Video poker may soon be fading out what with state lottery coming in. These are the views of Gov. Mike Easley. It is felt that a good thing would be for video poker to disappear from North Carolina as it has caused serious problems for the law enforcement agencies across the state and that is why the sheriff has asked the legislature to ban it. Easley hinted that the new lottery commission might not allow establishments that sell lottery tickets to operate video poker machines as well. So far, lawmakers have resisted taking any action to curtail video poker, perhaps because video poker operators have made large campaign contributions to powerful legislators.
