Illegal Video Poker Machines Cost a Loss of $35.9 Million to Mississippi
Video Poker is illegal in Mississippi, but the local law enforcement officials do not treat flouting this rule, as priority; due to a shortage of manpower. There are illegal gambling machines in almost every county of Mississippi and together lead to a loss in tax revenue, amounting to a whopping $35.9 million, annually. Clarionledger.com reports:
The revenue estimate is based on an average of 100 video gambling machines in each of Mississippi's 82 counties, Mississippi Gaming Commission Executive Director Larry Gregory said. But that average is conservative, he said.
